UPtoSPeed TECHNOLOGY Says John Meese AEMP chairman of the board of the AEM and AEMP telematics standard This ISO standard is a critical tool for a fleet team to embrace in order to more effectively and efficiently manage their fleet The Association of Equipment Manufacturers AEM and Association of Equipment Management Professionals AEMP mixedfleet telematics standard received approval from the International Organization for Standardization ISO as a global standard According to AEM and AEMP the ISO mixed fleet telematics standard allows equipment users to gather more OEM equipment data into their preferred business or fleet management software This in turn provides easier access and improved ability to manage and analyze information across fleets as well as help to save time and money on jobsites the groups say The standard focuses on earthmoving equipment but data can apply to other types of machinery as well The standard is based on the Draft API standard developed by AEM and AEMP The groups goal was to provide manufacturers equipment users fleet managers and all industry stakeholders with a standard they can use confidently across all market areas globally INFRASTRUCTURE Poll Voters united on infrastructure across Party lines The Association of Equipment Manufacturers AEM published results from a national poll that reveals half of registered voters say the nations infrastructure has gotten worse over the last five years In addition a majority of voters says roads and bridges are in extreme need of repair The findings are part of a new national poll AEM commissioned to gauge voter perceptions and attitudes about the current and future state of U S infrastructure amid a high profile election According to AEM the poll reveals that registered voters regardless of political affiliation recognize the declining state of the nations infrastructure as an issue that should be addressed and believe the federal government should do more to improve infrastructure Americans across the political spectrum understand the dire state of U S infrastructure and believe the federal government should do more to improve our infrastructure says Dennis Slater AEM president Voters recognized that increased federal funding for assets such as roads bridges and inland waterways will have a positive impact on the economy and they are looking to the federal government to repair and modernize AEM identifies that nearly half 46 percent of registered voters believe the state of the nations infrastructure has gotten worse in the last five years Also a majority 80 to 90 percent of registered voters says roads bridges and energy grids are in some or extreme need of repairs pitandquarry com September 2016 PIT QUARRY 7 Photo by Kevin yaniK AEM telematics standard receives ISO approval EDUCATION InstItute of QuarryIng nssga partner The Institute of Quarrying is working with the National Stone Sand Gravel Association NSSGA on new training and development courses that will launch in October The Institute is a professional body for the aggregate and construction materials industries with members in 50 countries The organizations have discussed education shared information and expertise and the development of a comprehensive training and career development program for the U S industry PEOPLE natIonal MInIng Hall of faMe cereMony tHIs MontH The 29th annual National Mining Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will take place Sept 24 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas Four men will be enshrined in the National Mining Hall of Fame during the banquet including Stanley Dempsey Haydn Murray William Poundstone and Robert Shoemaker Interested attendees can RSVP by calling 719 486 1229
