McLanahan introduces its first line of filter presses Caterpillar selling part of its Bucyrus distribution business Caterpillar Global Mining LLC and Hewitt Equipment Ltd have signed an agreement for Hewitt and its subsidiary Atlantic Tractors Equipment Ltd to acquire Caterpillars Bucyrus equipment distribution and support business in Quebec Western Labrador and the Maritimes Hewitt Equipment is a Cat dealer Caterpillar has announced similar transactions with other Cat dealers over the last few months The company Manufacturer briefs Martin Engineering opening facility Martin Engineering is opening a new factory direct and service center in Gillette Wyo where the company will house a large stock of inventory to serve the mining industry in the Western United States The facility includes warehouse and office space and is opening soon with a celebration planned this month Deister names exclusive equipment rep Deister Machine Co Inc has appointed Process Machinery Inc as its exclusive equipment dealer and turnkey systems provider for Indiana Kentucky and the Ohio region south of I 70 Among Process Machinerys services are new and used equipment parts and service support fabrication process design and field construction services Volvo Penta Americas names president Ron Huibers has been appointed president of Volvo Penta of the Americas He succeeds Clint Moore who has announced plans to retire Huibers who currently serves Volvo Truck Americas as president of sales and marketing for North America was expected to assume the new position Sept 1 Sany appoints Frank as chairman Sany America has appointed Tim Frank to the newly created position of chairman THE LATEST ON EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY M cLanahan Corp has launched its first line of filter presses eliminating the need for slurry ponds and a full time operator McLanahan says the presses produce dry cakes and use fewer chemicals The filter press technology treats the underflow of a thickener clarifier or other waste and dewatering processes Both overhead beam and side beam designs are options and both designs can feature either recessed chamber filter plates or membrane filter plates with a wide range of available pressures from 225 to 725 psi Other options are core blow systems and automatic wash systems says it continues to hold discussions with other dealers who have mining activity in their territories and that it will continue to operate the former Bucyrus distribution business until transitions have been made Frank will be responsible for manufacturing sales marketing and support for all Sany equipment products in North and Central America Frank was most recently a consultant working on global strategic planning for Sanys board of directors in Shanghai China Metso adds H O Penn to distributor network Metso has named H O Penn Machinery Co Inc a crushing and screening distributor for its contractor and recycling customer segments The distribution territory for H O Penn which is headquartered in Poughkeepsie N Y covers the lower 13 counties of New York for mobile crushers and screens KPI JCI hires product application specialist Chad Renken has joined the KPI JCI sales and marketing team as a product application specialist In the position Renken will provide support to both domestic and international sales personnel in reviewing aggregate processing opportunities and by proposing equipment solutions for customers Liebherr hires marketing parts manager Mike Balella has joined Liebherr Construction Equipment Co as manager of parts marketing In the new role Balella will work closely with the Liebherr dealer organization to further enhance opportunities to increase sales and improve customer service for after market repair parts 12 PIT QUARRY September 2012 www pitandquarry com
