Its easy to set up and take apart Plushanski says The conveyor mount secondary screen system unplugs with quick disconnects In 15 to 20 minutes I can drop it change all the screens and put it back up and recycle a different product And its sheer mobility is a time saver as well GreenRock moves the impactor to different stockpiles as it produces different products I was here at 5 30 a m changed the screens and walked the crusher across the yard by 6 a m Plushanski says Aluminum shields around the magnet keep the scrap steel or iron discharge running free of jams he adds Around the magnet Kleemann provides aluminum shields that dont retain bits of wire or nails Plushanski says Nothing builds up because it cant stick to the aluminum but our old crusher would have had thousands of nails stuck to the frame where it had become magnetized It was difficult to clean every day Scrapers on the belts are another advantage that benefits GreenRock Its the little things that make a difference like scrapers at the tops of each of the conveyors Plushanski says No adjustment is needed for them and they get all of the material off of the belts As a result I dont have a 2 ft high mound of dust under the machine which I have to clean up each day A steel pan feeder located under the crusher intercepts crushed material in advance of the conveyor absorbing the shock and protecting the conveyor We used to pierce belts like there was no tomorrow on our old jaw Plushanski says Wed spend 10000 a year on belts that we otherwise would have no problem with But these belts never get that abrasive impact And side rubber skirts keep the material trimmed and centered and keeps dust out of the machine P Q PUTTING THE SPOTLIGHT ON INNOVATION EDUCATION Wirtgen Groups 2018 Technology Days event brought more than 1000 guests including aggregate producers to the companys North American headquarters in Antioch Tennessee Wirtgen Group whose brands include Kleemann Wirtgen Vögele Hamm and Benninghoven showcased 29 machines for guests in two live demonstrations Among the Kleemann equipment the company demonstrated was the Mobicat MC 110 Zi jaw crusher the Mobicone MCO 9 Si cone crusher and the Mobiscreen MS 702i screening plant The company also offered tours of its Center for Training and Technology CTT located on the grounds The CTT offers classes and curriculum to both dealers and end users including technical service operations sales and parts The 21000 sq ft facility houses two classrooms and two laboratories as well as a four bay shop dedicated exclusively to training so hands on training can take place regardless of the weather Jim McEvoy president and CEO of Wirtgen America sees the CTT as a commitment to the companys customers As the Wirtgen Group has developed its position in the marketplace in North America weve done so on a platform of technology innovation McEvoy says Simply put if youre going to be that guy you have to back it up with training and with competencies so people understand how to use technology correctly for the most efficiency With labor being such a hot button issue at the moment the CTT S10 PIT QUARRY May 2018 pitandquarry com PHOTOS BY KEVIN YANIK Kleemann displayed a series of crushing plants at Technology Days and offered live demonstrations of several portable processing units Wirtgen Americas Jim McEvoy left opens Technology Days North America alongside Wirtgen Group CEO Domenic Ruccolo McEvoy is president and CEO of Wirtgen America CRUSHING HYDRAULIC BREAKING
