MANUFACTURERS JOHN DEERE OPENS REGIONAL PARTS DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN FLORIDA J ohn Deere opened its Worldwide Parts Services Regional Distribution Center RDC in Miami The 115000 sq ft facility will service all Latin America countries except Brazil Argentina and Mexico which have their own in country distribution centers Prior to the opening of this RDC Latin America dealers were serviced from the North America Parts Distribution Center in Milan Illinois and the South America Parts Distribution Center in Campinas Sao Paulo Brazil According to the company positioning inventory in Miami to support the Latin America market will improve cycle time on machine down orders and stock orders Latin America is a key market for John Deere and this new facility will improve logistics cycle time and ordering consistency for our dealer network in the region says David Thorne senior vice president of sales and marketing at John Deeres Worldwide Construction Forestry Division The Miami RDC will significantly enhance the competitiveness of Construction Forestry dealers in the market and allow them to better serve our customers with the parts they need when they need them ICYMI I N C A S E Y O U M I S S E D I T MSHA SENATE CONFIRMS MSHA ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF LABOR By a vote of 52 46 the U S Senate confirmed David Zatezalos nomination to be the next assistant secretary of labor for the Mine Safety Health Administration MSHA According to The Weirton Daily Times Zatezalo began his 41 year mining career as an underground general laborer at the Blacksville 2 mine in Monongalia County West Virginia He attended West Virginia University and obtained a degree in mining engineering Zatezalo told the Senate committee that he operated 39 mines in America and Australia during his career Zatezalo believes Australia and South Africa are today at the forefront of mine safety technology The Weirton Daily Times adds Our last two initiatives have come from those countries but I really think the U S should be the leader says Zatezalo a former coal executive at Rhino Resources But I am anxious to see what can get done At the end of the day I think I can take what I can and make things better PRODUCERS FLORIDA COUNTY APPROVES CEMEX SAND MINE Lake County Florida commissioners approved a Cemex sand mine near Lake Louisa south of Clermont Florida reports the Orlando Sentinel The commissioners accepted on a 4 1 vote a settlement to end litigation with the company According to the Orlando Sentinel Cemex plans to mine about 526 acres of the 1200 acre site Lake County commissioners said Cemex made compromises that improved its original sand mine proposal which was originally rejected in a 3 2 vote in March 2015 The company agreed to changes that will shield adjacent properties protect a nearby U pick blueberry farm and save clay trails says Commissioner Leslie Campione Cemex also agreed to pay for an eastwest road to ease traffic fears as well as donate 100 acres for a county park Todays action by the county commission will allow Cemex to move forward and provide a much needed sand resource to support infrastructure and other construction projects in Florida says Walker Robinson spokesman for Cemex The mine will provide additional jobs and tax benefits to Lake County PHOTO COURTESY OF JOHN DEERE UPtoSPEED John Deeres 115000 sq ft parts distribution center in Miami will service all Latin America countries except Brazil Argentina and Mexico Zatezalo pitandquarry com January 2018 PIT QUARRY 9
