THE LATEST ON EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY Sandvik Dyno Nobel team on 10th annual Quarry Academy M ore than 130 aggregate producers attended Sandvik Constructions and Dyno Nobels 10th annual Quarry Academy educational event in San Antonio Guests had the opportunity to attend three days of classes and breakout sessions on best practices in drilling blasting crushing screening quarry planning legal matters loading and hauling Attendees tested their excavating and drilling skills on Sandvik Quarry Academy attendees toured Cemexs Balcones Quarry as part of their experience and Volvo Construction Equipment simulators Volvos Wade Turlington was one of several instructors who discussed a simulators benefits Theres a big training difference when quarry producers train operators on simulators Turlington says Theres about a 20 percent reduction in training time on a simulator based on our research According to Jeff Heinemann Sandviks vice president of construction one of the biggest takeaways for aggregate producers was the notion of thinking outside the box about their operation We hope our guests dont simply accept whats happening at their operation as they go home but that they analyze whats happening and see if theres room for change Heinemann says We also think its smart for them to make sure their processes are interconnected ConExpo Con Agg 2017 to feature new layout ConExpo Con Agg 2017 will feature a new show layout that will make it easier for attendees to find products and booths according to show organizers The reconfigured layout will make it easier for attendees to navigate the show floor organizers say It will also create better synergy between outdoor and indoor product areas Show management cites increased demand for exhibit space as a major factor in the show floor redesign As part of the new layout the Gold Lot will include an expanded Gold Hall The Bronze Lot will be added to the South Hall Both lots will feature registration areas There will also be registration in the Westgate Convention Center Telematics standard includes new features The Association of Equipment Manufacturers AEM and Association of Equipment Management Professionals AEMP released their new construction equipment telematics standard which now includes features to facilitate data gathering The new standard also includes a test database and manufacturer verification system The standard enables equipment users to gather more OEM equipment data into their preferred business or fleet management software This provides users with easier access and improved ability to manage and analyze information across their fleets the associations say Currently the standard is going through the approval process with the International Organization for Standardization ISO to be accepted as a global standard Thus far the original data points and intent have not changed However the ISO review process has resulted in more frequent data polling more data flexibility better security faster API load time and more options for customers integrators MANUFACTURER BRIEFS Eagle Crusher names sales manager Eagle Crusher Co Inc added Timothy D Miller as Western regional sales manager Miller is located in Salt Lake City and responsible for crusher sales and the development and support of distributor relationships for the western portion of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii Western Canada is Millers responsibility as well Allu Group has new president Allu Group named Edgar Chavez as its president and CEO Chavez will replace Mardi Ohanessian who will retire at the end of the year Prior to this position Chavez served as executive vice president and general manager for Allu for two months in order to familiarize himself with the companys customers product and operations in North America He also has experience with Gradall Industries CNH Industrial Astec Industries Mitsubishi International and Volvo Construction Equipment 12 PIT QUARRY January 2016 www pitandquarry com
