AGG1 AGGREGATES ACADEMY EXPO Seven introductory level AGG1 Academy sessions to bring your next generation of employees up to speed on key production elements A record number of exhibitors are expected to showcase their latest wares Feb 12 14 at AGG1 Aggregates Academy Expo in Indianapolis In addition to the trade show component of AGG1 the National Stone Sand Gravel Association organized about 60 AGG1 Academy education sessions at the Indiana Convention Center A variety of sessions make up this years AGG1 Academy program with tracks covering business management and leadership the environment safety and health and operations and production With labor being a hot button industry issue a couple of AGG1 Academy sessions center on recruiting younger people to our industry and bringing more women into the fold For producers bringing some of their newest prospects to AGG1 several introductory level sessions are planned to educate rookies about the most fundamental parts of aggregate operations P Q identified seven sessions that can bring your greenest employees up to speed on essential areas of production 1 CRUSHING 101 McLanahan Corp s Mark Krause will lead this session providing an overview of the crushing process Attendees will hear about different types of primary and secondary crushers the pros and cons associated with the different types site conditions to consider when selecting crushers and how to optimize the process given a particular crusher By the end of the session attendees should understand the effect of speed stroke and angle for the various crusher types Where and when Tuesday Feb 12 7 30 9 a m in Room 231 2 SCREENING 101 Screening is the critical cashbox of an aggregate operation This course led by Deister Machine Co s Joe Schlabach is intended for novice plant design personnel Schlabach will present the basic concepts necessary to understand screening operations Attendees will learn about essential items like stratification separation bed depth and the effects of stroke screen media and their application amplitude and speed Attendees will also gain tips to help existing screening operations while gaining an understanding for future plant expansions Where and when Tuesday Feb 12 9 30 11 a m in Room 231 3 WATER CLARIFICATION 101 This session led by Brett Casanova of Kolberg Pioneer is intended to provide an overview of the equipment used to reduce or eliminate waste in pond systems The session will also outline the steps to complete a wastewater system analysis In addition attendees will learn the most cost effective ways to manage ponds and theyll be introduced to a full wastewater recycling process Other topics to be covered include basic pond design fines recovery systems flocculent systems types and rates clarifier types and sludge system management Upon completion attendees should have a general understanding of wastewater stream analyzation as well as a better understanding of appropriate equipment selection Where and when Tuesday Feb 12 9 30 11 a m in Room 135 4 CONVEYORS 101 Jeff Jurasits of ASGCO and Rod Martin 16 PIT QUARRY February 2019 pitandquarry com WORLD OF ASPHALT THE MORE YOU KNOW The trade show component of AGG1 is expected to draw a record setting number of exhibitors to Indianapolis AGG1 2019 Location Indiana Convention Center Indianapolis Dates Feb 12 14 Trade show hours 11 a m 5 p m Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a m 1 p m Thursday
