PoRTAble PlAnTS Track mounted Amidst a booming oil and gas field construction market a South Texas aggregates producer hits production targets with a new top capacity track mounted HSI crusher C haracterized as the sixth largest domestic oil discovery in the United States the South Texas Eagle Ford Shale Formation is a major production playground for the nations top energy companies In August 2010 well permits rose 42 percent made possible by the latest horizontal and directional drilling technologies which allow valuable access to oil and gas reserves that were previously unattainable As such companies such as aggregate producer B G Materials and its sister companies Beck Bros Inc and South Texas Oil Field Maintenance Inc are strategizing and stretching their capabilities in providing base materials and support services for oil and gas construction Their main mission is meeting demand while minimizing operating costs Headquartered in Beeville Texas B G Materials operates four pits that are situated within a vein of abrasive calciferous limestone that extends from northern Bee County to southern Goliad County The company provides base material products for its oil road and pad construction projects and for a number of TXDOT projects as well In past years this entirely portable operation was able to move two mobile plants between the four sites and arrive at the desired tonnage however as the oil market grew so did their need for more capacity As a result B G decided to acquire an additional highercapacity mobile plant Track mounted HSI After consultation with Freeport Ill based Inertia Machine a manufacturer of portable crushing and screening equipment B G purchased a new 5066 Tracker which is a mobile track mounted HSI horizontal shaft impactor crushing plant engineered to deliver capacities of up to 700 tph at lower costs per ton We have been operating two smaller Inertia 4840 HSI By Carol Wasson The 5066 Tracker offers unique trailerfree transport as it is outfitted with its own removable bogie axle 40 PIT QUARRY February 2011 www pitandquarry com
